Leave it up to Piper to make a complete mess of herself right after tubby time.  So, Norah helped me give her a quick tubby in the kitchen sink.  Don't mind the dirty dishes and other mess around.  Making memories and all that jazz. ;)

And, Norah decided, while I was putting Piper down for a nap, that she was going to take it upon herself to make a peanut butter & jelly sandwich.  When did my baby grow up??  Isn't making lunch and caring for her my job??? :'(

Somebody got into my nail polish...
...the sparkly blue one that I don't think I've worn since high school and is impossible to get off.
I could have been mad at her {honestly, I have no idea how I reacted this day}, but I couldn't have been too mad if I pulled down a dusty fan and took the chance to take photos of her first manicure in this beautiful light.

Well, it's been a while since I have been to my blog.
10 months to the day, to be exact!!

2016 was an extremely successful year for my photography business.
I stayed busy throughout the year and was able to upgrade my camera based on Fall sessions, alone.
But, in turn, my personal photos took a back seat.  It's hard to edit your own photos when you spend every waking moment editing everyone else's.

I wasn't sure I was going to continue this blog, but when we were faced with the news that Brad would be taking on a new job in 2017 with the Navy, I have no choice but to slow down with my business until we relocate.
So, I thought now was as good of a time as any to update my blog through 2016 and made a personal goal to take more photos of my own family and document those times for them as they grow older.
It's hard to believe, looking back a year ago, how much the girls have grown.  I didn't realize just how much Piper's cheeks had slimmed out since last winter and how much Norah looks more like a little girl than an older baby.  They have changed so much!
So, keeping this blog alive is just as important for me as it is for them.

Last February we took the girls to tea with the princesses.
They both dressed up as Snow White {Norah's request}.
She wanted so badly for Piper to match her dress.
All of the princesses were there from Anna & Elsa to Cinderella & Rapunzel.  There was even a surprise appearance from Olaf, whom Norah wasn't overly fond of... something about the full body costumes has always made her nervous.
They had treats and dancing, a carriage & one-on-one time with each princess.  Norah was in her own little piece of heaven.

I have grown so much in my photography since these photos were taken... it's painful to go back and try to edit these {I didn't try hard because there isn't much I can do to bad light and blurry photos}, but I know no matter how terrible they may be, it was a fun day & I don't want to forget that.

This is our second winter in Texas and... well... we haven't really gotten a winter this year!  It's February.  It's beautiful.  And still no snow!!!  YEESSS!!!  My kind of living!
So, today we took the girls down to the beach because it was BEAUTIFUL!!!  Piper loved the sand!  She took to it much better than Norah did at her age.  She also may have had some to eat. ;)
The beach was busy.  Everyone was itching to get down to the water!  Since we're nowhere near an ocean, it's nice that there is still a little stretch of beach for us to enjoy!

Piper is at one of my favorite baby stages where she can play, be mobile, and interact.  She just adores following Norah around.  She already looks up to her!!  She loves playing with her Little People doll house & loves exploring our home.  She recently discovered that she can climb stairs, which has been a constant workout for me running after her to pull her down.  A baby gate is on order and can't get here fast enough!!

Piper - 10 months - 02.15.16

I took notes every month on Piper's milestones.
I seem to lose the paper every month... and I think we're at the point of no return. :-\  So, thank you to Facebook & Instagram, these are the milestones I remember from February.

Norah is at the age where we can ask her questions and she gives us really sincere, honest answers.  So, for Valentine's Day, instead of just giving Daddy a card, we showered him with hearts to wake up to on our bedroom doors.  I simply asked Norah what she loved most about her Daddy, and these were some of her responses:

Gosh!  I just LOVE Texas.
Seriously, who would have ever thought??!!
If you would have asked me 5 years ago where I never wanted to live, Texas was top of that list!!  But, boy was I wrong!
It's February and the weather is BEAUTIFUL!
So, the girls and I hung out on the front porch, blew bubbles, and Piper crawled around in her odd, no knees touching the ground, kind of way.  This has been her new style over the past few days.

We belong to a few play groups in the area.
It keeps us busy, gets us out of the house, and allows us all to interact with new people.
It's so good for Norah.
I have seen her grow so much lately at these play groups.
She used to always play by herself at the parks or at other's homes... never really acknowledging that we were there to interact with other kids.  But, lately she has been finding a friend or two and really clinging to them.  The other night it was two older, elementary aged boys...  Oh my.  But, from time to time she will find a girl she wants to hang out with.  I love watching her grow and branch out with other kids.

Today, we went to a Valentine's themed play date at the trampoline park.  Norah had a blast & even found a friend by the end.
We made a box together to collect Valentine's in {I have officially decided that Kindergarten & Elmer's glue is going to be the death of me} & she got so many Valentines from her friends.  She was thrilled to feel so loved & oh so sad to leave!!

It has been on the chilly side lately due to the winter rains we have been getting.
I needed to get the girls out of the house, so we finally checked out a hands on Science Museum in the area which I have been considering getting a membership to for the girls.
Norah had a blast running around playing with everything on display.
The theme this month was Atoms.
The concept was a little advanced for her, but it didn't stop her from experimenting.
Piper wanted to crawl around, so I took them to the back where she could build her own castle with the giant foam blocks.
Norah played with the bubbles and the music maker.
We really enjoyed the time spent there... Norah could have played all day if it weren't for closing time.

After the science museum, we had a play date with other photographer moms to get out and shoot some Valentine's Day themed photos of our kids.
It was pretty wet and muddy making it extra hard to get any cute pictures in the "grass," but we made the best of it and had a good time with the other mamas and kiddos.
