daddy comes home **05/17/13**

After being in Florida for 5 weeks for training, Brad was scheduled to come home on May 20th.
Luckily, they were ahead of schedule & pushed through to change that date to May 17th which bought us an extra weekend!

Woo hoo!

He was due to land in DC at 10pm.
Norah wasn't going to see her daddy until the morning.
I had all intentions of waiting up as long as necessary to greet Brad at the door...
...besides, he didn't have his keys, so somebody was going to have to let him into the house. ;)

I received notice that they were able to catch an earlier flight home...
...I was on pins and needles all night.
Expecting him to walk through the door at 6pm, I was a little antsy when 6 came and went and the minutes kept passing.
I knew he had landed and was on the ground, but 5 weeks is a long time for our princess to be away from her daddy.
I wanted her to see him before she went to bed.
8pm rolled around & I was seconds from taking Norah upstairs when Brad appeared in the doorway.
Norah was crawling around the floor with a sand bucket on her head, but when I took it off she was so confused to see her Daddy standing there.
She had seen him on a computer screen for over a month.
I don't think she fully understood, but it didn't take her long to get back into the pre-training swing of things.

Brad missed his princess so much.
It was very obvious that this trip was weighing on his heart.
The older Norah gets the harder it is for him to leave her.
It has been wonderful having him home again!!

More outside fun on her swingset & in the pool.

Norah is spoiled rotten whenever Omah comes to town.
This trip was no exception.
With summer just around the corner, we had been itching for some vitamin D & what better way of getting some than having a playground in your back yard?!?
Norah loves playing on it each and every day!  She's learning how to go up and down the stairs leading up to the slide & is becoming less fearful of going down the slide.  We count to three & then weeee!!
She loves it & is full of smiles!
Thanks, Omah & Opah!!

mom's day & birthday *5/12/13*

Brad's travel dates changed a few times from before he left to the day he came home.
We knew pretty far in advance that he wouldn't be home for my 31st birthday & Mother's Day...
which coincidentally happened to fall on the same day this year.
I missed him, but he still made sure to make it a special day for me, even over all of those miles.

I'm not a "send me flowers" kind of girl.  I never have been.
Instead, I always appreciated the subtle surprises like the time he drew a heart in the snow on my windshield before I left for work,
or the time he left a single yellow rose in a water bottle in the cup holder of the car for no reason other than to let me know he was thinking of me.  And Brad knows these are my favorite surprises.  It was hard for him to deliver his typical "I love you" from Florida, but he didn't disppoint.
I don't think I've ever received flowers at work, so it was a very nice surprise when I received a beautiful arrangement of sunflowers on my doorstep for my special day.
I love knowing that he went out of his way to send me an extra ounce of love on this day we couldn't be together.

To celebrate Mom's Day, I did some research & found a local Tea Room!
Tea Rooms are popular in Pennsylvania.  I used to go with my mom from time to time!  I loved that & loved sharing the experience with Norah, too!
We made sure to include her in on the fun of an afternoon tea & brought a tea cup from her play set from home!  She loved it & so did I!!  We enjoyed scones, salads, & quiche.  Our tea of choice was the chai spice.  We were able to pick out our own tea cups from a china cabinet full of them.  I had a hard time choosing between the one with shamrocks on it & the floral print, which I knew I had seen before.  I'm almost positive my mom had a collection of them or one of my grandmothers.  I couldn't put my finger on it, but I went with the floral print to honor those wonderful ladies in my life {regardless of who collected that print}.

I have become a little ditzy in my first year as a mom.  I forget my camera ALL of the time!  Between having to remember the diapers, wipes, milk, and most importantly... THE BABY, I am bound to leave one or two things behind & it always seems to be the camera.  Thank goodness Omah had hers to capture so many of these moments!
