spoons

A week or so ago, Brad's sister, Jenni, posted on her blog: {here}

I have wanted to make hand stamped baby spoons for a long time.  I never, in a million years, would have thought I would be making them so soon!
Presley, you're growing up so fast!!!
Since she is already eating baby cereal, I jumped on the opportunity to make our sweet niece a spoon of her own!

Jenni, you can have your spoon back now. ;-)

I have added it to the shop {here}.   I just love these!!!
I can't wait for Brad and I to have babies of our own so we can make our little ones their own personalized spoons, too!
But, in the meantime, we'll just spoil our niece with this one!

Jenni, I'll send it this week!
Pam, I swear I'll get Jason's bracelet out this week, too!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On a side note, Brad and I have big plans tomorrow & I cannot wait!
Stay tuned for pictures because I'm 99.9% sure I will be taking lots of them!
I hope everyone has a happy & safe Halloween weekend!
I will need to reach deep down inside for will power to stay away from that candy!
picture show, in the back row
I have a short list of all time favorite movies...
...these movies have been on the list since I was a kid or in my teenage years.
I find few movies, in recent years, that are capable of making this list.
When I was a teenager, I was introduced to the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
I've watched it hundreds of times, I'm sure, & couldn't begin to tell you why I love this movie...
...it's completely out there & quite crazy.
Maybe it's the musical aspect of it... or how insane the characters are...
Tim Curry is a hoot!
I do know that since I was introduced to this movie, at 15, I have DREAMED of going to see it live!
And with my naturally frizzy hair, I knew I wanted to go as Magenta, the "domestic."
I can't even tell you how easy it was to get the hair right!
So, when Brad's cousin, Craig, was visiting a few weeks ago, he was telling me all about his experience at the live edition of Rocky Horror & now I was determined to find somebody to go with me.
I don't know how it came about, but Craig's friend, Erika, was all about it {she's outgoing like that}!
And then, somehow, he was able to convince Brad to go.
Sad to say, Craig wasn't able to make it up for a visit yesterday to join us. :-(
The live show is meant to be very interactive.  The play the movie on a big screen & have a live cast acting it out in front.
  I wish I would have done my homework before going.  So much goes into the live version!
We got a prop kit that included:
  • bird seed: to throw during the wedding scene
  • a newspaper: to hold over our heads when it's raining
  • a rubber glove: to snap when Dr. Frank-N-Furter is revealing Rocky
  • confetti: to throw during Rocky & Dr. Frank-N-Furter's wedding march
  • a noise maker: to applaud Dr. Frank-N-Furter
  • toilet paper: to throw when Dr. Scott enters the castle
  • toast: to throw when Dr Frank-N-Furter proposes a toast at dinner
We all danced the time warp, sang along, & yelled obseneties at the appropriate times.
We had a blast!
And as much fun as it all was, the best part was getting dressed up! :-)
Brad went as Brad {Majors}... he fit the role well!
girls night 2010
Remember {this} night last year?
Well, Tara entertained us once again with a night of yummy food, delicious drinks, & lots of fun girl talk!
I love when we are able to get together.  It doesn't get to happen often, but when it does, we are always guaranteed to have a lot of fun!  Every year I meet new people & it always amazes me that Tara can find such sweethearts!
Her friends are such an amazing group of ladies!  I'm so honored to be a part of that group!
And, of course, we can't have a girls night at Taras without Sal!
He is the SWEETEST pup.  I can't possibly believe those rumors about pit bulls after meeting Sal!
And boy, did he want all of the treats laying around...
Although girls nights are few and far between, we vowed to try to have them more often!
I can't wait for the next one!
pumpkins
Every year I say I'm going to go back to carving a "simple" pumpkin & every year I ignore the little voice inside my head that tells me to do so.
Brad always gives me a hard time when I tell him I will be carving a cute little jack-o-lantern.
He loves to go to the extreme with his pumpkins.
And he always seems to expect the same from me.
This year was no exception.
I looked for a VERY long time for a picture to carve into my pumpkin.
I kept coming up empty handed, but at the last minute, today, I remembered one of the pumpkins I wanted to carve last year...
He was my inspiration.
And while we carved pumpkins, Damon enjoyed taking over the ENTIRE couch.
He's always been good at giving the puppy dog eyes.
We worked really hard to get our pumpkins carved so we wouldn't be up all night...
...and for once, Brad finished before me.
I thought I picked a fairly simple template & Brad was under the impression his was equally as complicated as past years.
Turns out, we were wrong!
But, in the end, it was all worth it!
I tried so hard to get Damon's picture with my pumpkin, but he just wasn't having it.
I don't know if it was the camera, the excitement of getting him near the pumpkin, or the pumpkin itself that he was afraid of,
but even treats made my little photo shoot challenging {so, please excuse the blurry pictures}.
He did not want to budge.  I coaxed him with treats, bread, toys... Damon is stubborn when he wants to be.
This was as good as it got, and I'm pretty sure there was a treat somewhere nearby.
Brad's pumpkin is a logo from one of his favorite breweries.
It looks tough, huh?
I may need to start brain storming next year's pumpkin, so I'm not as rushed to pick a template...
...but, then again, it seemed to work in my favor this year. :-)
daffodil days
For the past 4 years I have volunteered with the Bennington County Relay for Life.
For two of the four years, I have had the pleasure to work with our committee chair, Erin!
She's wonderful & has been such a great friend through it all!
This year I made the tough decision to step down as the online chair for Relay for Life due to our recent hectic schedules,
but I was THRILLED when Erin reached out to me to assist with a fundraiser for Daffodil Days
{another branch of the American Cancer Society's fundraising efforts}.
When she asked, I knew I wanted to do a piece in yellow & I knew I was on a search for a daffodil charm!
I didn't realize I would get so carried away making so many different pieces!!
I made a bracelet...
Accented with a cancer ribbon pendant & an optional 2010 pendant.
I made earrings!
And a necklace with an adorable daffodil charm...
And we've even combined them all at a discounted price {here}.
25% of the proceeds from the sales of these three pieces go to Daffodil Days of Vermont!
So exciting!!!
I am so happy to still be contributing to the fight against cancer & I couldn't be more grateful that Erin thought
of Pumpkin Pie Design to host a fundraiser for this state wide event!
Contribute to a wonderful cause today by purchasing one, two, or all three pieces!
**love**
I have completely skipped over fall.  I haven't decorated, or even considered the season, yet!
I'm not ready to give up summer {I think I've mentioned that a few times before}.
Yet, i find myself thinking a lot about Christmas lately.
I love Christmas.  It's my favorite holiday!
I love decorating my home for Christmas {I have an entire shed full of decorations}.
I love getting together with family around the Christmas tree!
And I love dressing up for all of the holiday parties!
I haven't yet thought about what I will wear to those parties {I'm not THAT far ahead of myself}
but, I have thought about jewelry to wear to those parties {SHOCKING??}.
So, this is what I came up with:
I love it!  I especially love the burgundy ribbon at the clasp.
I am not a gold person, by any means, but I just can't get over the gold tone pearls!
All of the accessories are gold filled in this bracelet!
How great is that ribbon for the holidays?!
A perfect way to accent any outfit this season!!!
It dresses up a nice sweater and jeans, too!
I just LOVE this!
{can you tell?}
You can find them in the etsy shop here:
a visit
We were blessed this weekend with a visit from Brad's cousin, Craig!
He came all the way from Alabama!
It is hard to believe that I haven't seen him since he stood beside Brad at our wedding!
{Where has the time gone?}
We are so proud of Craig!
A few weeks ago he graduated from flight school with his wings!
In a few weeks, the Army will ship him to Egypt to fly Black Hawks!
{Talk about one heck of an accomplishment!}
These boys are so much more like brothers, than cousins!
It really is a shame that they don't get to see each other more often,
but I know Brad has been so excited to have spent some time with Craig in the past month!
And we're hoping we'll get at least one more visit before he ships out!
Craig and Brad have always shared the same interests, hobbies, & goals.
They both drove Jeeps & Brad even helped Craig build his Jeep Willy's.
They played capture the flag as kids & climbed Mount Cardigan on a regular basis
{Brad loves that hike so much to have chosen it as the location to propose to me...
and Craig was there to share the experience with us}
I can't begin to tell you how happy Brad was for Craig when he joined the military
{a life long dream of Brad's}.
He was equally as excited to hear that he was going to fly helicopters for his career.
We are both so excited for Craig to be able to live his dream
{even if we will miss him terribly}
We were so happy to spend some time with you this weekend, Craig!
Please come back soon {i.e. October 25th} :-)
an anniversary gift
**shhhh.... Pam, don't show Jason**
Today, my oldest brother & his wife are celebrating their 11th wedding anniversary!
I do not know where the time has gone!
I was just a senior in high school when they got married!
My brother met Pam when I was 16, so she has definitely become the big sister I never had.
We have been best friends like only sisters are...
We have fought like only sisters do...
And she has been a shoulder to cry on many times...
She is part of the family & I couldn't begin to imagine things any other way!
I love this picture!
My mom bought two dresses for their wedding.
They were both purple!
haha...
We joked about it for years!
Everyone was so  young back then!
The wedding pictures were taken at Otts Nursery in/near Skippack, PA!
It was such a great idea & I loved the mountain of mums in October!!
{haha... I'm up there... can you tell which one?!?}
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So, I have decided to make my brother a gift today to honor their anniversary.

I have been sitting on these leather bracelets for MONTHS, trying to figure out what to stamp on them.
So, today I decided to stamp it with the date of their wedding!
I think this was a great idea & I think Jason will love it!

I added them to the shop & it will make a great gift for all of the guys out there!
It's about time I get more items up there for the men.

{Pam, I'll put it in the mail on Monday}

Happy Anniversary, Jason & Pam!
Here's to a lifetime of happiness!
We love you!!!

square

I have discovered square pendants for jewelry making!
They just arrived in the mail yesterday & I had some ideas stored up for them.
I am loving them so much!!

I think the "He Loves Me..." necklace is so sweet!
I love the little flower, but even more so, I sign everything with a little "xoxo,"
which makes that my favorite part of the necklace. :-)
It's the little things in life, really!

And I slightly domed the piece to give it a little personality.

My other square piece is a saying seen all around blogger & the Etsy world (usually in poster form).
"Keep Calm and Carry On" are really words to live by.

This was my first idea when I saw the square pendants.
I learned that the "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster was British propaganda
at the beginning of World War II.
It was produced with a crown on the top of the poster,
so when I made the necklace, it was key to include it.
I added it onto a small round pendant.

I just love them both!

What would you put on a square pendant?
